Antidorcas marsupialis marsupialis
DESCRIPTION The South African springbok is up to 25 percent smaller than other springboks and has shorter horns, but is otherwise similar. Has distinct coloration differences from the Kalahari Springbok on the face, body and rump. It is a rich chestnut brown in color, the flank band is a deep brown and the facial stipes are thin and not dark. If the forehead has a brown or fawn color patch, it does not extend past eye level and has a sharp border.
DISTRIBUTION South Africa, south of the Orange River and east of the Vaal River north to the Limpopo River via the Mooirivier, Sterstroom, Gwaithe, and Krokodilrivier.
