Tigre de Indochina (Sp), Hinterindischer Tiger (G), Tiger de l'Indochine (F).
DESCRIPTION Darker in color than the Bengal tiger but lighter than the Chinese tiger. The stripes are numerous and closely set.
DISTRIBUTION Still found from eastern Myanmar (Burma) and the Malay Peninsula eastward throughout Indochina. The Irrawaddy River valley in Myanmar (Burma) roughly marks the boundary between this race and the Bengal tiger to the west.
STATUS An estimated 1,050 to 1,750 remain.
