Budorcas taxicolor bedfordi
Also called Shaanxi takin.
DESCRIPTION A bright golden-buff color all over, with the gold being somewhat darker in males and creamy in females. Usually there is no dorsal stripe. There may be scattered dark hairs on the knees, hocks and tip of tail.
DISTRIBUTION The Taipai Shan (Great White Mountains) located in the Qin Ling (Chin Ling) range about 120 miles (190 km) southwest of Xi'an in southern Shaanxi Province, China. Reported as living in precipitous areas at 9,000-11,000 feet (2,750-3,350 m) altitude.
STATUS The golden takin has been considered rare ever since its discovery. Its rarity may not have been caused by man, as the Chinese are said to have hunted it only to a limited extent. Now protected by law, with only a few special hunting permits available yearly
