Tragelaphus scriptus sylvaticus
DESCRIPTION Shoulder height 28-30 inches (71-76 cm). Weight 100-120 pounds (45-55 kg).
A medium-sized bushbuck, dark brown to almost black in color, with only a few spots on the hindquarters and perhaps the belly. The head is a lighter brown, with a dark brown forehead and the usual black nose stripe. Actually somewhat similar to the Menelik bushbuck of Ethiopia, except for the dark forehead. The female is a dark fawn color with similar white markings.
DISTRIBUTION South Africa, Eastern Cape to Kwazulu-Natal.
