Kobus loderi
DESCRIPTION Shoulder height 32-34 inches (90-100 cm). Weight about 150 pounds (68 kg).
Kob subspecies have been separated into four different subspecies of Kob. From Senegal to Nigeria Kob are classified as Western African Kob, Kobus kob. The Kob recognized in Cameroon, Southern Chad and the Central African Republic is the Central African Kob, Kobus loderi. The Kob recognized in Uganda and Sudan is the Uganda Kob, Kobus thomasi. Lastly the most eastern Kob species is the White-eared Kob, Kobus leucotis. As of 2003, we began recording measurements for two different categories of Buffon kob because of differences in horn size between specimens from Central Africa and West Africa with the Central African Kob having larger horns with a higher minimum score of 40.
DISTRIBUTION Cameroon, Southern Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR).
