Gazella granti brighti
Named for a Maj. Bright, who collected the first specimen.
DESCRIPTION This is a small, pale race of Grant gazelle, with the pygal (rump) stripes either absent or very faint. The horns are small and normally do not have much spread.
DISTRIBUTION Extreme southeastern Sudan and adjoining parts of extreme southwestern Ethiopia west of the Omo River; northeastern Uganda; and northwestern Kenya west of Lake Turkana (Rudolf).
TAXONOMIC NOTES We note, without comment, that Kingdon (1997) considers the Bright and northern Grant gazelles to be consubspecific.
